THE ROLE OF DIGITAL MATURITY MODELS FOR THE DIGITAL STRATEGY

Digital maturity models are a good tool for defining the Day of Digital Transformation. Maturity models generally have a layer with a focus on technology and another with a focus on skills and capabilities. One of these models is that of ACATECH and has its focus on industry 4.0. This model has 6 levels of maturity. The first, Computerization, is when the machines are isolated from each other. Level 2, Connectivity, is when there is a network that integrates the machines in the factory. Level 3, Visibility. it is when there is information about what is happening at the Factory. At level 4, Transparency, is when you have information about the causes of the plant’s performance level. At level 5, Predictive Capacity, is when you can simulate factory performance factors. For example, simulating the impact of a new production line. At level 6, Adaptability, is when the factory can make autonomous decisions based on algorithms. At each level, skills such as security management, data management, AI algorithm management, organizational change, culture change, project management skills and so on are required. The key to going from one level to the next is these enablers. In the next post we will be addressing other maturity models.
